The current initiative system is deterministic whilst most people are used to and prefer an element of chance in the proceedings.

Offered below is an optional system for initiative.
- The natural goal roll is determined by Wits + skill level.
- Modify the goal as per normal.
- The effective initiative is the number of successes rolled, note in this case NEGATIVE successes are possible (ie if the goal is 10 and 15 is rolled then the initative is -5.
- A critical success results in an initiative of 2x the successes.
- A critial failure results in automatically going last.
- Ignore automatic failures, treat them as a normal roll of 19.
If more than one party has a critical failure or the same initiative then treat them as simultaneous actions.
